Not far from the conference headquarters is the Craddock-Terry Hotel, which opened in 2007 in a renovated show factory. The Craddock Terry Shoe Co. was founded in 1888 and was the first of its kind south of the Mason-Dixon line. The company became a cornerstone in Lynchburg’s commercial success in the 20th century. At peak production, almost 100,000 pairs of shoes were made daily. Next to the shoe business, Imperial Tobacco operated a warehouse. This building is also part of the renovated hotel complex. The renovation preserved the buildings’ industrial feel through exposed beams and wall materials and the 9-foot windows.
The hotel offers on-site dining and room service. It also has a business center, fitness center, and shoe-themed amenities. WiFi access is free. Pets are welcome.
