The Graduate Student Research Fellowship is intended to assist a graduate student enrolled in a Masters or PhD program in architectural history or historic preservation or a similar program at a college or university located in the SESAH region. The Fellowship includes an award of $1000 to offset research-related expenses and travel. Preference will be given to an applicant whose thesis or dissertation topic explores the architectural history of the southeast region.

Applicants must also submit a report on the use of the funds within one year of receiving the fellowship. They are also encouraged to present their research and project studies as part of the SESAH conference and to submit the results of their research for publication in ARRIS. Acknowledgement of the fellowship should be given in the completed thesis or dissertation.
The fellowship applications should include the following materials: (1) a statement (not to exceed one page, typed and double-spaced) describing the applicant’s research topic/objective; (2) a budget detailing research-related expenses to include travel and archival fees, and indicating the source and amount of any other funding that might be received; (3) a curriculum vitae; and (4) a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s faculty advisor or principal professor.
