Ernesto Bilbao

SESAH is pleased to announce that Ernesto Bilbao is the recipient of the 2021 SESAH SAH Annual Conference Fellowship. The $1000 fellowship will support his travel to the 2021 SAH Annual Conference in Montréal, Québec, Canada, to deliver his paper, “Architecture for the XI Pan-American Conference of Quito, 1960.”

Ernesto is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Texas at Austin in the School of Architecture.  He is also an Associate Professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), Ecuador, as well as an architect with his own practice, Estudio Ernesto Bilbao in Quito.  He holds a Master of Architecture from Rice University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar, and a Bachelor of Architecture from USFQ.

Ernesto received SESAH Conference Travel Grants in 2019 and 2020 to deliver papers on airports and air travel centered on Quito.
